Wedding Reportage

What is Wedding Reportage?

The Art of Capturing Emotions: The Wedding Reportage that Transforms the Moment

The long-awaited day, the flowers, the laughter, the tears of joy and the palpable love in the air: all this and much more is what makes a wedding a once in a lifetime event. And what could be better to capture these emotions than through a “Wedding Reportage“?

This term has made its way into the world of wedding photography in recent years: but what exactly is it and what differentiates it from a simple photo shoot?
The wedding reportage is a photographic approach and through its use we aim to tell the story of a wedding in an authentic and spontaneous way. Rather than posing for classic group photos or formal images, with the wedding reportage we capture the real and spontaneous moments, transmitting the unique energy and atmosphere of that special day.

How do you recognize the wedding reportage?

A wedding reportage can be recognized by its narrative nature and by its ability to capture the essence and emotions of the ceremony.

The photos are taken in a discreet and non-invasive way, allowing the bride and groom and their guests to be themselves without feeling constantly in the spotlight. Our goal is to become almost invisible, blend in with the crowd and capture authentic moments without actively intervening on the scene.

Unlike the traditional photo shoot, we focus on narrating events spontaneously and without interfering with the natural course of the day.

This type of service usually begins before the ceremony, capturing the preparations of the spouses and the atmosphere that is created around them.

As photographers, we document every meaningful detail, from the bride and groom’s expressions of joy and nervousness to their interactions with family and friends. During the ceremony and reception, every moment is captured with discretion, immortalizing the highlights, the hugs, the laughter and tears of emotion.

A complete wedding reportage covers the entire wedding day, from start to finish.

What are the current trends?

Trends in wedding reportage are constantly evolving, but some characteristics remain constant.

Today, many couples want a service that reflects their unique personality and lifestyle. The photos must be natural, without too many retouching or forced poses, spontaneous and authentic in order to convey the intimate moments and significant details that tell the story of the couple.

Another current trend is the use of creative perspectives and unusual angles to give a unique touch to images. We try to capture special moments from unexpected perspectives, using techniques such as overhead shots, close-ups and the play of light and shadow.

Furthermore, more and more couples want a wedding reportage that goes beyond traditional photos, including cinematographic elements. Short videos, known as “wedding films“, have become very popular, offering a dynamic way to relive the most emotional moments of the wedding.

A complete wedding reportage should include a wide range of key moments that capture the essence of the ceremony. In addition to photos of the bride and groom’s preparations, important moments to capture include the ceremony, the exchange of wedding rings, the kiss of the bride and groom, the moments of joy with friends and family, the cutting of the cake, the first dance and the moments of celebration during the reception.

Furthermore, it is important to notice the significant details, such as the flowers, the decoration, the wedding ring, the love letters exchanged by the spouses or any other element that has an emotional value for the couple.

The ability to grasp authentic emotions is also fundamental and our task is to be attentive to fleeting moments of happiness, tenderness, emotion or joy, managing to grasp the essence of people and relationships.

Variety is another important element. Our wedding reportage include a combination of panoramic images, close-ups, group photos and portraits, creating a complete visual narrative of the day.

Finally, post-production plays a significant role in creating a successful wedding reportage. The selection and editing of the photos reflect the style and personality of the couple, while maintaining a natural and authentic look.

What are the elements to take into consideration?

To produce a successful wedding reportage, we take several elements into consideration:

  • Timing and Planning: Weddings are busy events and we photographers need to be able to organize time efficiently. There may be sudden changes in scheduling or unforeseen times that require a prompt response.
  • Lighting Conditions: Wedding venues can vary greatly in lighting conditions. This can be a challenge for us, as we need to be able to adapt quickly and make the most of available light, whether it’s an outdoor ceremony in the sun or a reception in a low-light environment.
  • People and organization management: During a wedding, we come into contact with many people, including the bride and groom, family, friends and guests. Managing a group of people and coordinating group photos can be a logistical challenge, requiring patience, organization, and communication skills.
  • Management of stress and pressure: Weddings are unique and once-in-a-lifetime events, and we have a great responsibility to capture all the significant moments. Managing stress and pressure during a long day at work can be a challenge, but it’s essential to stay calm, stay focused, and give your all in every moment.
  • Communicate with the bride and groom: Before the wedding, it is important to ask leading questions to understand the expectations of the bride and groom and the moments they wish to see in the reportage. Communicate with them throughout the day to ensure their wishes are met.

An engaging and successful wedding reportage must be able to convey the unique atmosphere and energy of a wedding through images. Exploiting artistic sensitivity and technique is therefore essential to capture the authentic moments, the significant details and the emotions that make each wedding unique.

01 A natural lifestyle2023-05-02T22:58:57+00:00
Working is living – do what you are

I love my family, trekking is one of my passions, I adore nature and pets and I believe that a friendship can make life better.

I was born between Como and Bergamo. These places have taught me the sincerity and solidarity of the people, dedication to work and responsibility, the magic of certain landscapes, the indomitability of the mountain and the efforts of walking its paths.
Simple values that I have brought to my work.

Photographing your wedding is doing our best to tell a true story in an unforgettable way. Like when you reach a peak and, after a long walk, you take a good look at the view to fix it in your mind. Only that my eyes are the lens of a camera, and the view is you.

Definitely the wedding day belongs to the newlyweds, but it also becomes a bit mine. I like to give advice, have a say, share, until I collaborate. And I can assure that the results are visible; you can enjoy the event with complete peace of mind.
The climb seems demanding, but roped together everything becomes easier and safer.

02 Always ahead of the game2023-10-03T21:18:05+00:00
I have been building the memory of weddings for over 20 years, and weddings have built me, shot after shot.

Photographing weddings is a complex job; the desire to make an event unforgettable, the promise to always do better, the tenacity to resist overcoming limits and difficulties.

A wedding photo can only be seen after, after that day has passed.

But my job starts before, foreseeing any critical issues and solving the problem before it even occurs.

Then the event startsI must always be there without getting in the way, seize the moment without losing the spontaneity of emotions.

After the last hug, when the party is over and everyone goes home, I enter the studio and meet my collaborators.

Retouching serves to improve what was not perfect, to make the reality captured by the lens unique.

The group serves to divide the tasks in the post-production phase and to plan delivery times to ensure maximum quality and punctuality.

03 Creating an excellent relationship of trust2023-10-03T21:18:19+00:00
Strange to say, but on the big day, as a perfect stranger, I am the one who will spend more time with you than the others.

I will be there, always there – the first to arrive and the last to leave.

I start by doing everything to put you at ease, there must be perfect harmony between us.

I won’t bother you, no long poses on command during the event – I look for spontaneity because emotion is captured only when it’s authentic.

I have to observe everything so as not to miss anything. I move with the utmost discretion.

I’m always one step behind, ready to make myself clearly visible only if someone is looking for me. I will be everywhere without you noticing me.

04 Respecting the work of others2023-10-03T21:18:35+00:00

During the wedding the rhythms of the professionals in action are tight, there’s a frenzy of activity because everything is calculated to be perfect.

I believe that knowing how to move while respecting the work of others is the starting point to create a serene atmosphere that will be perceived.

The rest comes almost as a consequence; a relationship of mutual trust is established with the owners of the locations, the planning dictated by the wedding planner is followed and the needs of the catering managers are recognized.

Full cooperation guarantees maximum freedom of action and the strength to deal with any eventuality.

Acting in harmony as one whole can be of great help because the conditions in which we work may sometimes change. In the middle of the dream, something can happen:

Has the ceremony taken longer than expected and so there is a delay to make up for? Is a storm threatening or is it starting to get dark? It might happen but there is always a solution – always:

The secret is being able to transform the unexpected into an opportunity.

It’s the beauty of creativity and the power of sharing.

05 Taking advantage of unexpected events and mishaps2023-10-03T21:18:52+00:00
What if it rains?

You will be as beautiful as ever
Everyone invites the sun to their wedding, but if it doesn’t show up, there’s a way to make the most of the opportunity. With a mix of technique and technology, fantastic photos can be obtained – with unexpected effects. When you look at them, you will see that even the rain can be as beautiful as the sun.

What if there’s no light?

We turn on the sun when it’s not shining
Photographing means drawing with light; it’s difficult to get good pictures in bad light. Therefore, the imperative is to make that light better, even at the cost of inventing it. Proper management of the tools – artificial lights, filters, flashes and tripods – can make the difference; we can make the sun shine on the darkest day! For a photographer it’s a really tough challenge, but in the end the result is unique, if you know how to get it.

What if the best light is there, but it changes quickly?

We will convince it to stay
A fiery sunset is perfect, not to be missed, and doesn’t wait. It’s all about being prepared. Tools, availability of the location, organization of timing are my most faithful allies for photos that are beautiful even before they are taken.

What if there’s no time?

We will find it
On the big day there’s no time to waste. It’s just a matter of being organized.
With my collaborators I have developed an infallible method to reduce the time for posing – 10/15 minutes is enough for the most impatient! A great achievement, because it means putting all the newlyweds at ease – those who don’t notice the passing of time, just to see themselves in a studied and re-studied photo as well as those who don’t want to miss even a moment of the party, not for a photo.

06 Eliminating the risks2023-10-03T21:19:05+00:00
The task of a wedding photographer is not only to take beautiful photos, but to ensure that every phase of the photo shoot is managed in the best way, under any conditions – which comes with a certain responsibility.

This is also why I’ve chosen not to work alone. I’ve surrounded myself with very special collaborators – boys and girls with some gray hair – always ready to come to the aid of each other to solve any critical issues.

Act as a team, see each other as family. So we can work without any worries and you can have sweet dreams!

We have set up and tested a backup system that protects us from any technological impasse.

We have at least two spare cameras each, several quickly replaceable lenses, dual memory cards mounted on each camera for recording and saving images, and many other tricks that will keep everyone safe.
